Founder's story

Why the company exists

Dr James Tataw Ashu is a Swiss board-certified specialist in internal medicine and nephrology with approximately 20 years of clinical, academic and leadership experience across Switzerland and Cameroon. He serves as Head of Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Hôpital de Moutier and as a consultant physician in nephrology at Geneva University Hospitals. He is also involved in postgraduate medical education and the training of future physicians. Dr Tataw holds specialist FMH qualifications in General Internal Medicine and Nephrology. His expertise includes acute and chronic kidney disease, hypertension, dialysis, kidney biopsy, renal ultrasonography and the coordinated care of dialysis and kidney-transplant patients. His approach to medicine is defined by discretion, compassion and respect. He treats doctor–patient confidentiality as a fundamental responsibility and builds close, trusted relationships with patients and, when authorised, their families. Internationally, Dr Tataw helped co-found a pioneering living-donor kidney-transplantation collaboration involving Geneva University Hospitals, Yaoundé General Hospital and the University Hospital Centre of Yaoundé. He has also contributed to kidney-disease prevention research, dialysis-care improvements and specialist medical training in Cameroon. Dr Tataw is an accomplished researcher whose publications address access to dialysis in sub-Saharan Africa, kidney transplantation, continuous renal-replacement therapy, cardiac complications in haemodialysis and acute kidney injury. As the founder and medical leader behind JV Healthcare, he combines Swiss clinical excellence with international experience and a strong commitment to making specialist healthcare more accessible, coordinated and personal.

Core values

How we work

Compassion

We listen before we advise, and we take the time a question deserves.

Integrity

We say what we can and cannot do, and we never overstate a result.

Clinical responsibility

Clinical decisions follow professional standards and clear limits.

Confidentiality

Health information is treated as highly sensitive at every step.

Accessibility

Clear language, two languages and a website that works for everyone.

Continuous learning

We keep learning from patients, partners and evidence.

Practical innovation

We adopt technology only when it makes care safer or simpler.

A multidisciplinary team discussing healthcare organisation and planning

Geographic focus

We are established in Switzerland, work closely with patients and partners connected to Cameroon and the African diaspora, and accept international enquiries. Medical services are provided only within the limits of applicable professional regulation.

Medical approach

Appointment-based, unhurried and evidence-informed. We explain reasoning, state uncertainty honestly and hand over to local care when that is the safer route.

Organisational-advisory approach

We start from what a team already does well, document the real process, and propose changes that can be implemented with available resources.

Technology philosophy

Technology supports the doctor's work; it does not replace professional medical judgement. No medical information is sent to public AI systems.
